Last Saturday I had a 12 hours jaunt around Devon and Somerset. Starting off at home in
North Devon…first stop Honiton for the opening of the Thelma Hulbert Gallery's "Present Makers" exhibition. Really gorgeous exhibition, full of carefully selected and beautifully hand made gifts. I have a selection of framed and unframed prints available there, including my newest reduction linocut "Rock Pooling" - was great to see it hung for the first time. As part of the opening, I had the opportunity to do a demo - where I showcased my multi-block "Robin" linocut. It was a lovely event and it was great to meet the exhibition organisers and some of the other makers.
Next stop, I headed to Glastonbury for a look around the Heart of the Tribe Winter Open. I hadn't visited the town of Glastonbury since I was a child, and it just made me smile - festival vibes all around, filled me with nostalgia! And Heart of the Tribe was equally delightful - really wonderful exhibition and such a treat to see so many printmakers on show. I'm absolutely delighted to have my "Lee Bay' reduction linocut included, as well as "Focus I" (tabby cat with fish tank) multi-block linocut.
And next up, I headed to Bridgwater to catch their incredible Illuminated Carnival. We go to this every year, and every year I am blown away with the amount of skill on show, in so many areas - designing, making, building, engineering, costume-making, performing....the list goes on and on. And even the weather was on our side - it was truly wonderful!
And finally, back to North Devon around midnight with a very sleepy 3 year old 😴
