Amongst the Creatures of the Sea (Full Alphabet)
An alphabet of sea creatures, assembled from 26 separate letters of the alphabet plus an end tile to finish the rhyme... "Happy swimming we shall be, amongst the creatures of the sea". End tile is optional if purchasing unframed (see options below).
Each individual tile is a three-block linocut print, hand carved and printed from my home workshop in North Devon. You can view each one separately by clicking here, where they are available to by individually with a 3 for the price of 2 offer.
- Each individual letter tile is approx 7.5 x 10cm (3x4 inches).
- Oil based printmakers ink, on 300gsm acid-free printmakers paper.
- Multi-block printing technique.
Please note, I have tried my best to photograph the artwork in such a way that its true colours come across, but please be aware that colour will vary slightly from screen to screen. Also, since this work is handprinted, there are natural variances and minor imperfections in each print, which adds to the handmade charm and unique nature of the linocut.
Framing
- If you choose the "framed" option, the assembled alphabet will arrive as per image 2. Each tile is float mounted onto blue mount board and framed within a white, slightly textured box frame. The frame measures approx 50x75cm is fronted with glass and fixed with D rings and rope, ready to hang (see third photo for close up of frame).
- Please note that the frames are made to order, so there may be up to a 10 day wait before item can be dispatched
- The assembled alphabet is limited edition of 10, with the mount board signed on the front and numbered. Please note individual letters are all open editions.

- If you choose the "unframed" option, the individual letter/creature prints will arrive with a generous amount of unprinted paper to allow for framing - example with Dolphin in image 4. They will be unframed and unmounted.

-If you choose the "trimmed" option, the individual letter/creature prints will arrive trimmed down to a 3x4 inches tile - example with Puffin in image 5. They will be unframed and unmounted.
End Tile
The framed option includes an end tile with two blue whales, reading "Happy Swimming we will be, Amongst the Creatures of the Sea" (see photo 6).
If you are are buying "unframed" or "trimmed", you have the option to purchase with or without this tile.
